02 In the basement. If your hair is blonde, it might get tugged on ew and I was like, oooh, thank goodness, I'd dyed my hair. They think there's a spirit of a little boy down there, which again is kind of creepier than the attic, that there's just like one spirit of a little boy in the basement. Yeah, I guess this. He'd not get along with the other kids, like he's in exiled to the basement. He was shot. They're all up in the attic and they sent his ass all the way down to the basement. Well maybe because he'd be the white hair. Hi Caitlin, Hi Cassie. Hi creepy people, helly you. This is PNW Hanson Homicides, where we chat about true crime, the paranormal, and all things spooky in the Pacific Northwest.
55 Or the PNW if you're nicety, and. We also do a nasty little tarot reading at the end of our episode for some nasty insight into our topic. It just got so nasty up in here. That's that's I mean, that's how it's been, that's how it will be. All right, then, that's what I feel. Okay, Doka, I wasn't aware it was going to be quite so nasty. I mean, did you look at me today? Obviously it's gonna happ well. Do you want to know where we're going today? Yeah, we're going to Port Gamble, Washington.
39 Port Gamble. Yes, I'm trying to think if I've even heard of it. I feel like I had heard of it, but it could have just been through all my ghosty research. I'm not really sure. I mean that's fair. Port Gamble was founded in eighteen fifty one because of the Puget Sound Milk Company. Oh, it's about thirty miles northwest of Seattle. Although you do have to take a ferry unless you want to like go eighty five miles and like go down and around and up. Yeah, I'm not really about that life actually, unless you're coming from like Portland, which you know, you're just going up so you wouldn't have to do the roundabout. But I guess if you don't want to take the ferry, which I feel like would be kind of fun.
30 But I've never taken a fairy. You haven't, No, I feel like I would be terrified. No, actually I think it's pretty cool. I've taken it up to Orchest Island. From Anti Chordis several times. I think that's the only ferry that I've been on. But it's cool. I just said, I was like, it sounds fun. I would be terrified. Yeah, Hey, listen, two things can be true. You can have complicated emotions about a lot of things. Yeah. I think it's just weird that you drive your car onto a boat. Yes, I was just going to say, I feel like it makes sense because driving onto a boat feels not quite right. Yeah, there's something that's a little anxiety inducing about that.
25 They just need to make all cars with the water cars where you can just drive in water. I've been in one of those. Have you been in one? No? It was like where were we Orlando, in Florida, Disney World. Well, that feels like a very Florida thing. Yeah, it was fun. I mean it was basically like it just felt like you were in a boat, but it was a car. Weird. I mean, I'm open to it. Maybe. Yeah, it's fun in the warm weather, you know, the top down, gotta of the top down. I don't know how I feel about that.
06 I don't know. I feel like being enclosed and in the water. I feel like we're going on a lot about this car water thing, but you deal with it. Yeah. Well, honestly, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'm like, oh, I don't know how I feel about having the top down, And then as you started to say, oh, but being fully unclosed, that was the exact next thought that I had, like, Oh, actually, I don't know, being fully enclosed maybe doesn't sound great either. Actually that's kind. Of why I just felt like you're in a motor boat, because like, yeah, no top in the water. Yeah, that makes sense, but a lot smaller anyway, Yeah, let's move along. Yeah, because this episode, believe it or not, is not about water cars.
52 Oh well that okay, I mean, I listen. I'm sure whatever topic you've picked is right, but I am a little bit disappointed that we're not gonna keep going down this road. This water road, haunted water car oho. Okay, well, keep looking. I'll get right on that. I'm going to read a quote from the Port Gamble website just so you get a little feel for the vibe. Port Gamble is on the Kitsap Peninsula, situated on the shores of Scenic Hood Canal. Explore the one hundred and twenty acre National Historic landmark, complete with picturesque turn of the century buildings, filled with shops, a historic church, breathtaking views, expansive grounds, and New England style houses on maple and elm tree lined streets. Oh wow, doesn't that sound beautiful? I mean, very picturesque, very idyllic.
54 This town has what is known as the most haunted house in Washington. Oh boy, the walker Ames House. It's a Queen Anne style home built between eighteen eighty eight and eighteen eighty nine on Rainier Avenue, which I thought was cute. Okay, yeah, that is cute, and you know we love a Queen Anne obviously. I know I knew you would love this. Okay. So really interesting because I'm getting like kind of two different like pictures. I'm guessing I'm guessing it's like before and after paint. Oh it could be.
35 Yeah, like somebody must have restored it to kind of it's prior glory. Yeah yeah, we'll kind of talk about that later too. Okay. So it's really cute. It's got like stained glass windows, it's got very like the poles. I don't know how to describe it, but the poles are very like bubbly, bubbly. Oh yeah, it has like kind of I think that's like gingerbread. Yeah, I think that's what they call that. Yeah, but very Queen Anne style. It's interesting because like how it's described when you Google it is exactly how like I picture it. It's like spindle work and fretwork. But it says it refers to the ornate lace like wooden embellishments characteristic of Victorian era architecture.
31 And she is beautiful. Yes. The original home oh oh, though, although not as fancy, actually burned down in eighteen eighty five. Oh no, I know. And this new home actually faces the bay instead of the street, which is pretty unique. I mean that's what I would want, right, I know. But it was for the purposes of welcoming in the ships. Oh okay, So this house like had some sort of like official. Capacity, uh kind of, we're about to talk about it, Okay. So William Walker lived there with his wife Emma daughter mad which I freaking love that name, mod and her husband, Edwin Ames. Walker was the master mechanic for the nearby sawmill on Gamble Bay. So that's the big saw mill that was built, which is why the town is there. Okay.
31 Ames was the resident manager and then the general manager until nineteen thirty one. So it's kind of like a head head of the sawmills house basically. Okay, okay, that makes sense. I feel like that used to be a really common thing. I mean you still see that, I guess with like the military or you know, it's. Very it seems very like military because they have other houses too that are that were built for like the managers and stuff. Yeah, it's built like specifically so that they can grow up this area around the industry. Yeah, and all the heads have nice places to live, and then there's also other places for like the just general workers to live maybe not so nice, but.
18 Little tiny houses. The home was occupied by other mill managers and their families until the mill closed in nineteen ninety five, and at the time of its closing, it was the longest continually operating mill in the US. Wow, I was gonna say, that's like way more recent than I would have pictured, you know, nineteen ninety five, that's I mean, we're too young to even the nineties. But wow, wasn't even born yet. Just oh yes, just the fadust. After that, the home was abandoned and it is still unoccupied to this day.
02 No way. Yeah yeah, yeah, So is this where we announced like the gofund me to help us buy it or I don't know. I'm not really sure the deal with it. So okay, because obviously the outside is very pretty, but I watched a video that shows the inside and it was only from last year, and boy does it look abandoned. Like there's all inferns growing in the basement. Really looks like nature is just like invading. She's been reclaimed. Yeah, and the wallpaper is all like ripped off and weird.
46 It's just it's not restored inside whatsoever. From the video I saw that was dated from last year, so I don't know if anything's happened in the meantime. I'm not really sure. Port Gamble was declared a rural historic to so kind of like the quote from the beginning, and a lot of the buildings have been restored and preserved, although the walker Ames House does not seem to have been restored in the inside, but the outside has. So I was wondering maybe they started with the outside and they're going to get to the inside, or maybe they kept the inside spooky looking for ghost tours, like for a purpose. And yes, they do ghost investigation tours there, Like you can book one. It's like a three hour tour.
36 What it's ran by paranormal Pete? Stop it, I know, like the best name, good thing. His name was Pete, you know, because like what else did he call himself? No, you got to have that alliteration, right. There's a lot of reported paranormal activity in the home. A woman is seen upstairs in the windows wearing a long dress. What color is it? I knew you're gonna ask. They don't say if it's whiteh So I was like, maybe there's no lady in white here. We'll see, we'll see what comes from. Well, all right, I mean I'm just saying white is already such an impractical choice. I feel like, even in this modern day, we don't have like horses and buggies driving through the streets and everything. Yeah, like olden times.
29 But I'm like, I I wear white with so much caution and I can't even imagine how hard it was to keep a white dress clean back then. So to me, if there's a lady standing in the window wearing a white dress, I'm like, ghosts, it must be a go Yeah, there's no way she has been wearing that all day and she hasn't splashed something. I was. I watch a lot of like YouTube go videos or whatever, and I heard just yesterday when I was watching one that they said, like ladies in white present themselves that way because they they died in like a tragic way or something. Yeah, I don't know why specifically they would present in white. I always think of like a lady in a nightgown because I don't know why I think of like nightgowns as white.
25 Yeah, I mean it makes sense. I totally get that. That visual makes sense to me too. I don't know. I mean there's a lot of symbolism with colors, for sure. Yeah, I don't know. And obviously, you know there's the there's the big one, right, you know, like ghosts historically look like a white sheet. Yeah, that is true. That is true. So I don't know. But they don't specifically say here that this lady is wearing white, so we don't know. Lights have been seen turning on and off when the home is empty. Cameras have malfunctioned, not cameras like their house security cameras, but like people right to use cameras, people touring or inside you okay, Yeah, people feel significant cold spots or have smelled a floral scent in one area of the stairs and nowhere else.
23 Interesting because I thought all of the plant growth was down in the basement. Right, well, it didn't look like flowers. I'm curious, is this a place that actually still has working electricity because it's like the lightning that. I guess it must, right because people are saying that they're seeing lights going on and off. But well, that would be even weirder if it didn't have electrocity. Right, that would be also, uh, further evidence of something hanky, as uh the Scooby Doo gang might say, but. I'm not one hundred percent sure. But they do go investigations there, so I assume that they would have to have some power, maybe for cameras and things.
06 I had to check myself because I was like, wait, am I remembering that the Scooby Doo get. I know, they said a lot of silly things, but I was like, do they say hinky a lot? And I guess not really? Jink jinkies jink. Yeah, Jinky's That's probably what I'm thinking of and zoinks. Yeah. Footsteps have been heard coming from the attic as well as children's voices and toys tend to move around up there. Listen the toy thing in and of itself, that could be sort of a like toy story type thing. And yeah, I think most people would find that like, oh, how cute, how charming and uh And obviously I have very different thoughts and feelings about that given my history with dolls.
01 But as per usual, never okay, never okay to be hearing uh, other worldly children's voices, little voices. That remains one of I think my biggest bugaboos. It's like that and cannibalism. Just I can't and they are they are really neck and neck like that may surprise some people. They freak me out in different but equal ways. Well, you're gonna love this next part because people see children looking out of the attic windows. No in it. Why the attic too, I don't know.
46 No. I watched a video where paranormal re Pete was like on a news he did, like a news segment. It was really cute and he was saying that the kids like were often sent to the attict to play while guests were over. So maybe there's just some like that was their favorite place and they come back to it or it's just like residual I don't know. Oh okay, yeah, because there's a lot of I don't know in the paranormal. Yeah, I mean that's and that's fair. I just have so many questions. Whether or not they can be answered, I think remains to be seen, ye ask away. Though. There is a basement as well. We talked about it, the overgrown basement. In the basement, if your hair is blonde, it might get tugged on ew And I was like, oh, thank goodness, I dyed my hair.
38 I know I'm back to my natural color. So I'm uh, I think I'm safe. We might be safe just from the hair pulling. Yeah, okay, that's good. I guess they think there's a spirit of a little boy down there, which again is kind of creepier than the attic, that there's just like one spirit of a little boy in the basement. Yeah, I guess does he not get along with the other kids, like he's in exile to the basement. He was shot. They're all up in the attic and they set his ass all the way down to the basement. Well maybe because he'd be playing I will and you know, what it in that light, I think maybe that seems fair.
21 Actually there's kind of some other things too about the basement that we'll get to and not right now but in a little bit. Okay, So I did read a lot of spooky things happened during the ghost tours, so if you book one, your chances are pretty good that something might actually happen. So one time Pete and his whole tour group saw a woman disappear right before their eyes. Okay, that I don't I don't love it, but that doesn't really get me in a particular Like, ah, I do have both of my feet up in my chair already though, So.
01 I'm not sure that you'd want to go to this one because there I keep saying it, there's other stuff. There's a lot of other stuff that I just feel like, isn't it's not gonna persuade Caitlin to come at all? Whatsoever? Maybe look at the outside. Yeah, I'm like, actually I'm not getting out of the car. Just do a drive by, right, So it was interesting. He said that he was like shining his flashlight around and he heard something and then like turned around and the flashlight like hit the woman, and everyone like gasped. Okay, and well when you put it like that, that's like kind of horror movie.
41 Yeah, it doesn't sound like a horror movie. But like when everyone gasped, she disappeared. So she's like, oh shit, I was caught. Gotta go. Yeah, she's like self conscious. I guess maybe. Maybe she was naked. She's like, I don't look at me. I'm in my house, I'm walking around nude. What are you guys doing here? H In the Victorian era, nobody was nude, right, It was like a whole generation of never nude. Depressing. I know, have you seen the swimsuits from that back in that day? I mean, honestly, I kind of want one though. I kind of want that to come back around, just so I can be covered up.
25 And it's fine, right, You're like, yes, yes, yes, all bodies are beach bodies, especially when I can dress like a Victorian child. Yeah, I'm with you. Photos of human figures have been caught and are actually on Pete's website. You can look at them. One is of a man in the window taken from outside. I think it's a man. It's like a man looking figure. He kind of looks like he's in a suit or something. But it's very shape shadowy. Okay, I was gonna say. I mean, even from a stillet, sometimes you can tell just based on like height or you know, kind of other yeah, I don't know, discernible figures.
09 And the other one looks like someone kind of peeking around the corner in a hallway. No, oh no, do you want. To see them? Should I send them to you? I mean yeah, probably, And they do circle it in the photos, which is nice because I'm like, what am I looking at here? But then you see them. Oh god, that first one, the peaking one, that's so creepy. Yeah, oh god. And the second one, truth be told, is not much better. That definitely looks like an older man in a suit. And I know, I feel like they kind of look like the same figure almost a little bit.
54 There's part of me that wants to just be like the consummate skeptic and be like, Okay, so they just had a tour come through, and they, you know, captured a photo of this same guy from inside and outside. But why would a tour group be like standing alone in like the dark. Yeah, And I feel like Pete would. Pete's probably a cool guy. He probably would know, like, there's no one in the house, right, And these were captured. I don't know if they were on the same tour or not, but they were from two different people. Oh yeah, that's true. One says the date in the other.
36 Room and one doesn't. Yeah. Interesting, this looks like it's kind of in like adjacent parts of a house though, because you can see this mirrored fireplace mantle. I think that's what it looks like it is. You can see it in both of the pictures. Oh oh, did you notice that? So it's like if it's a ghost, it's somebody that like obviously is kind of like that's his area, you know, like he's just trying to go into the palla or you know whatever.
17 I didn't notice that. I know I didn't at first either. I was like, Oh, this is so cool. There's so much ornate wouldwork in this house. And then as I'm like looking at it, I was like, wait, that's the same piece. I'm pretty sure. So the first one he's like down in the hallway peeking around the corner, and then the other one he it looks like is either in that you know, he's come into the room and he's like near a window on the opposite side of the room, or he's in an adjacent room. Oh, and the lights are on from the second photo, so that kind of sort of answers your question of if there's power there. It wasn't in twenty thirteen.
02 Okay, okay, so you know we're figuring some things out. There are many EVP recordings on Pete's website as well, and his sibling actually wrote a blog about their experience catching an EVP and a little bit more in the primary bathroom of the house. Ooh. So they were asking questions out loud, doing in the recorder, trying to get answers from spirits as why people do that in case like it catches something you don't hear with your your normal human ears. Yeah, you're lay mass human ears.
45 And then as they were asking questions, they started to see a shimmering in front of them, describing it quote as if the area in front of me were being twisted. Okay, well, like shimmer I'm down with that. That sounds good. Like that sounds pretty. That sounds kind of like ethereal twisting. Gives me a little bit of pause. I don't I don't know about that. It's creepy. And then it formed into a blurry woman and they couldn't make out any features because it was so blurry. But she seemed to be wearing a white dress or had a white apron on over her dress.
32 Know it. Oh, here's our. White lady, Oh lady and white. But again I always say, since like, this wasn't a fully formed figure. It was kind of blurry, maybe see through, shimmery, twisty. Maybe you just can't see the colors. So it's like, you know, maybe it's not actually a white dress, but you just can't. I don't know. It's like in black and white, you know. I mean, I see what you're saying, but I'm hardcore. I'm teen lady and wife like that. I think that's what they saw. And well, you got it. I delivered. You're welcome. Yeah, and then what do you think this lady in white did give you one? Guess?
18 Did she cry? No? She disappeared. Oh So it's again it's interesting because it's like her brother Pete's experience with the tour group, like the women just get seen and then they just disappear. That's interesting. So I don't know if it was the same woman. Or not. Yeah, but I feel like that's kind of those are the two things that they do, right, right, ghost be doing that crying and or disappearing. Yeah, that's kind of their thing, like just evaporate. She could have been crying. Maybe that's why she was all blurry. Oh, I guess that wouldn't make sense, Yeah, because they would have to be crying. Maybe she was projecting her view of herself as she was crying, like seeing herself cry all Lorrie, I don't know. That didn't make any sense.
08 Well, I mean if you believe that, you know, any paranormal entities have an ability to like influence us in any way. Sometimes people say they can affect like what you see or hear or you know, different sensory experiences, Like I don't, I don't know. That doesn't even sound that wild to me. You're already seeing a ghost, Okay, it just doesn't feel like that much of a leap. I guess that's true. Yeah. So later when they were reviewing the recording from that incident in the bathroom, they heard quiet chanting that became louder, but they couldn't make out what it was saying. Chanting chanting. Yeah, I don't care for that. That always gives me like cultye vi, Right, So I don't know if it was maybe it was singing and not chanting, I don't really know.
07 They described it as chanting, yeah, and then they found the exact same sounds of chanting on someone else's recording from that day in the same bathroom. Eh okay, So yeah, I feel like their characterization of it is like that's probably accurate, right because they have two separate recordings, so it's not just them like not having enough evidence to be able to like adequately identify like what's happening. Yeah, Like we have two separate recordings, and this is what we're hearing. Yeah, because if you know what singing is, if it was singing, you would have said singing. So yeah, chanting.
48 Exactly creep, So definitely chanting. I feel like, oh, I don't know why other paranormal groups have investigated there as well. The Tacoma Paranormal Society reported having doors that were popped open with weights being slammed shut. Yeah, and some furniture moved around upstairs and someone experienced extreme dizziness and nausea, which I was. Like, it's a Caitlin Oh, my god. So this is like one of the other reasons. I was like, Oh, maybe she shouldn't go here. Maybe maybe don't maybe we don't visit. Yeah, okay, yeah, I think maybe I would have to see what the vibe feels like from the outside.
38 We'll see. I want to go obviously. Uh yeah. Paranormal PTE invite us the Puget Sound Ghost Hunters and the Advanced Ghost Hunters of Seattle, Tacoma. Which is a ghost it's acronyms, I love it. But they did a collab investigation in there, and they found the attic door to be open at one point after it had been closed and locked up, like it was confirmed locked and closed. They couldn't open it. Oh, and only one person had the key, and they all knew that one person like didn't go open the door. So it was just like, hey, come up here, see what's going on. It was the kids they want like come up and play. Oh, that's spooky.
30 And later they found something else was mysteriously opened a door under the stairs. Oh it looked to be like a storage space that the handle to the door was on the inside. No, thank you sir, right, what which. Is like that's pretty creepy. I don't know if maybe there used to be a handle on the outside too, and it just wasn't there anymore. Yeah, I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be a handle on the outside. Like, how were you supposed to use it storage effectively if you can't open it door? Right? Yeah? Which is the thing? Is they so they closed it and then they couldn't figure out how to open it again, so like, how did it get open?
13 Great? Oh my god, that's. Something crawling around in the walls. No. No. Someone on the team also said that they were punched in the back down in the basement. Oh good lord. And I was like, I don't know, maybe it's that little boy again. This is like maybe more evidence of why he got banished to the basement. Seriously, little punk kid. And he's like, why didn't you bring me toys? Because they do leave like toy offerings for him down there. Oh they didn't have toys, and he was just like me, where's my toy? Or I don't know, like maybe here's the thing, not a parrot, but are we like sort of enabling his bad behavior by leaving toys down there his offerings?
06 I don't know, man, maybe or you know, maybe it's just so he doesn't punch you or pull your hair or I mean. For sure, I just don't know if it's a good idea to reward bad behavior. That's all I'm saying. Strict on these ghost children, man, they have nothing else, right, nothing else. I mean, I guess that's true too, I don't know. So they've also shot some like films and shows down there in the basement, and one of the crew actually got her leg grabbed and they said there was a handprint on it. No, and so no, I know, and I was thinking, like handprint like left on the skin, but another article said that it was like a dusty handprint, so like maybe on the pants or something. But either way, like that's creepy.
59 I hate that, And. I want to know was it a little handprint, like a little kid handprint. I mean, come on, I. Feel like it had to have been. Oh I'm going with that, Jesus. The walker Ames House was featured on the show My Ghost Story season six, episode six, Darker than the Shadows, and I didn't watch it, I know. I was like I had to google it and it took me a minute to actually like find something that would tell me what the fucking episode was. It turned out to be a someone's Facebook post, so I don't know. I couldn't confirm from the like the summary didn't have any mention of the house in it, yeah, because it has like a couple different stories they feature on each episode, so didn't specifically say. And then it was like two dollars to watch it, and it was I was like, I don't have time. I don't want to pay two bucks.
00 Yeah, I hadn't want to mine. I can't confirm if that's the actual episode or not, but that's what someone who researched it said, which I do want to watch it. I just didn't quite have time because it was Yeah, it was like ten this morning, and I was like, I don't know. I got shited to doh yeah. Yeah. There were quite a few comments on Facebook from people who actually lived in the house before it was abandoned in nineteen ninety five. Why yeah, So I'm going to read you one comment from Jamie Oh. She says, I grew up in this house. My dad was a mill write at the sawmill. We lived there from nineteen eighty to nineteen ninety three, and we're the last family to live there. My mom kept the place immaculate, so that kind of is sad that now it's kind of in disrepair. Yeah, and the house looked very different back then, just more alive and live. Well, yeah, it's been abandoned, so that will happen.
03 Yeah, that'll happen. There was an old coffee can beneath the parlor stairs in a little secret room, So I'm like, is that must be the door that had been opened on the other team's investigation. Yeah, because they said it was a little like storage room under the stairs. Oh my gosh. So this coffee can, they go on to say it has letters and trinkets from all the families that lived there going back to the eighteen hundreds. Do you think it's still there? So I think I read in another comment, like her and the poster were commenting back and forth, and I think she said that they took the coffee can when they moved out because they knew they were going to be the last people who lived there.
45 Okay, yeah, that makes sense. We used to roller skate in the basement on rainy days, which is so cute. That's so cute. The spookiest places in the house weren't the basement in the attic and the service stairs that go up through the middle of the house and have an entry on each floor. Oh, I'm not sure. They didn't go into why these places were spooky, but they do say there's some spookiness. I mean, it's the basement, the attic, and the servants stairs. I think we all know why they're the spookiest parts of the house. Poor Gamble was an amazing place to grow up. I thought that was really cute.
26 Yeah, that's super cute. And that doesn't sound like anything too spooky. Yeah, no. And then I also wanted to note that there were some other comments from other residents that said that they lived in the house it wasn't haunted at all. Hmm. But I'm like, maybe that's because it was like full of life, like she sat up in the other comment, and now it's been abandoned and maybe some things came out, yeah, of the walls. I mean, I do think sometimes it feels like it would make sense that someplace, like when there's people living there, it might not necessarily like the energy is so different that maybe things don't present themselves, or maybe you just don't even notice, right, because you're just like living your life in this.
17 House exactly, and if there's you know, kids living there, like oh, who left the slide on? Or like who's going to notice the toy moved or exactly? Yeah, yeah, or you know, you could just be one of those people that's like, I just don't believe in this. So it's like, I don't know, if you don't believe in it, you can say all day that it wasn't haunted. But or you're not going to like feel you're not sensitive so you can't feel yeah things, or but I just wanted to point that out. Yeah, maybe you're not a person that goes to a house and then is on a boat for three days. Yeah. There are a couple other interesting buildings in town.
00 Port Gamble's General stores basement. Oh, another basement. Always the basement, I know. I mean they're just creepy in general, right, they really are. But the Port Gamble General Store's basement has the Puget Sound Hotel Museum. Oh. The actual hotel was constructed in nineteen oh seven and demolished in nineteen sixty three, so it's no longer around. Oh, it was damaged during the Columbus Day storm. Of nineteen sixty two, which we've heard a few different times in other stories. There was a really big storm. They had rooms for single saw mill workers.
41 So that's like another place where workers resided. It's like goes back to that whole idea that it's like this town kind of just springs up around this industry. It's like, you got to have somewhere to house all these people, right. Right, And I do like it's a small town. I'm sure it has like the small town vibes where everyone knows everybody, but like if the majority of the people are also working together, like you really everybody knows everybody? Yeah really, Yeah, that quickly just becomes like I mean, forgive the pun, but it's like, ooh, the rumor mill back then. Nice, you know.
23 I like that. And I'm not sure why. But the hotel fell outside of the company restrictions on gambling and alcohol. Oh so super popular. Oh I can imagine. Wait, so they had restrictions about gambling and drinking. I don't they even restrict that in like private homes. I have no idea. I mean, I guess if it's a company home, yeah, like it's your private residence, but you're a company man living in a company whom. Yeah, I'm really not sure that's I was just re about the museum and that's what it said. But that makes so much sense. Yeah, so it was.
06 It was a pop in place though, because that's where everyone wanted to go to gamble and drink. I bet. Yeah. Some paranormal activity is reported at the museum. Voices, footsteps, sounds of papers wrestling, interesting books opening and closing, and a shadow figure. Books opening and closing. Yeah, I'm like, I don't know they're reading they was. I guess I just figured, you know what, with the being out outside the bounds of the company, you know, prohibition on the gambling and the drink, and I just assumed, I guess that there wouldn't be a whole lot of reading going on.
49 Maybe they're that's they're looking in the books for the hidden alcohol. Could be or it could be like the one curmudgeon who's you know, reading their Bible because they think that, you know, drinking and gambling that's the devil's where. Speaking of like the Bible, there is a really pretty church in town. It's like very It's got the giant steeple, it's all white hire it's so pretty. I'm not, like obviously not a church person, but I really like the look of churches that are really pointy. Yes, no, here's the thing. I can get behind the architecture.
30 Yeah, you just burn when you walk inside. It's fine. Oh yeah, you know, burst into flames. I was curious too about the sounds of like the papers rustling or crumpling, Like what yeah that about? I mean maybe like the hotel manager because if you think about it, or like it could even be like front desk because if you think about it, literally back then, everything like their reservation, all of the accounts, everything's in like these big ledger books. That's true, So that would account for the paper wrestling sound and the opening and closing of books.
12 Yeah, they're like where's the ledger? Yeah, I need to book somebody. Yeah, I feel like to me, I think it's so interesting that mundane sounds like that are like part of the sort of like the storytelling and you know, the experiences with like a haunting. Yeah, I know. I like that too, especially because it's like, no one's down there, no one's in here. Where's that sound coming from? Like? Why is it right happening? I can't remember if it was an accountant or maybe a lawyer. But it kind of reminds me. Do you remember this is like literally day one of the show, But do you remember when you talked about Pike Place and I feel like there was i want to say, an account that they said haunted his old office.
05 Oh yeah, I think it was the person who like started Pike's Place. Okay, Yeah, I feel like that's the vibe it's giving. You know, like he's just still going to work every day. Going about his business. Yeah. Yeah, he's still trying to run the hotel. It's not even physically there. Yeah, because you think like even though it's not the actual building, like it has artifacts from the building, so it's still holding on to some of that energy and things are drawn to it still. I mean, think about it. That's the ultimate ghost flex, isn't it. You're just like still running this hotel that doesn't even exist anymore physically.
47 Yeah. It's like, hey, well we don't exist on the physical plane as living beings, right, I don't know. Maybe they are still running the hotel and it's a ghost hotel. We can't see it, and he has to go back and forth looking for things because they took some of the artifacts out of the hotel, and he's like, where's my shit? I mean, who knows. I like that theory. There's so many ways that could go. I think that's I think that's a good one. It's solid. Thanks. Okay, one more building real quick. Oh it's not haunted. So we're ending on like a happy note. Port Gamble Theater opened in nineteen oh six. And it's not haunted.
29 No, they didn't really mention anything about it being haunted. I'll believe it when I see it. Maybe some things go down there, It just wasn't like reported on. I want to talk to paranormal Peete. He would know. Well, he knows everything about every building in that town. I mean he is the Goldarn expert. It sounds like so the. Town's Shakespeare Society and the school's drama club performed there. I love that. That's a horrible I love that this like little school, can't imagine it has very many students had to drama clvee and they performed in a theater. I just love it adorable as well as vaudeville acts.
14 And then it played silent films and talkies, which they specifically said and talkies and now the port Gamble Ghost Conference is held there and they claim that that's the oldest ghost conference. I mean, I want to believe them. Can they back it up? I did in fact check it, but that's what they claim and I'm not going to question it, so. All right, I mean that's fair to take them at their word. Yeah, I want to go to the ghost Conference. I think that would be so fun. They like actually teaching classes and teaching classes. They can take classes to learn like how to paranormal investigate things. Yeah. Yeah, well that's all I have about port Gamble in the walker Ames House, and I think we should maybe do some taro.
09 Oh you think so? I think we should. We kind of said we do that, so we probably should do that. I guess we did kind of promise that at the top, So fair enough. I did the shoe flea. I have the cards laid out in front of my cable. Okay, let's go with the W side because it's like by the A too. Walker aims it works. Yeah, it does, And it's funny because that just happens to be in a spot where you know, when you like go to try to flush out like a whole deck there's always like kind of little clumps there. There do be a clump, so I need to know left or right. There's no middle, there's kind of a middle.
00 I don't know. My brain said middle before you ask. Okay, well that's the card that's conveniently the hardest to get. But oh, oh interesting, okay, oh okay, five of swords. It's an owl. Over the river side. You probably can't really tell, but there's actually two animals there. Oh, he's got a rodin in his mouth. Yeah, oh spooky it's the Northern spotted owl and Humboldt flying squirrel. Oh not anymore, not anymore, so much okay, So keywords in our little book are aggression, conflict, hostility, ambition, defeat, or winning at any cost, which makes me think of the hotel and the gambling that kind of does.
52 Yeah, okay. A quick series of flaps and then silence, A shadow momentarily eclipsing a sliver of moonlight, the intangible feeling of a sharp eyed stare from above. The squirrel never stood a chance. Really. She was perched upon a springy limb, plotting the fastest route home to her leaf filled nest. She readied her jump crunching down and tensing her muscles. But instead of launching forward, she was lifted up, carried aloft by razor talons under silent wings. There was no pain, only shock, no hope of fighting back, only total defeat. The battle was over before she even knew it was happening. Ah for the owl, it was a single meal, sustenance for an evening, unremarkable and soon forgotten.
58 It just gives me the so like kind of the vibes of like a haunting, like they're there, they kind of just pop in and scare you and then disappear and like take your energy. And write just another Tuesday. Yeah, and you said, did you say something about a shadow in the beginning, because we talked about like a shadow figure. Oh, a shadow momentarily eclipsing a sliver of moonlight. Yeah, so shadow interesting. Okay. And in our Big Book, the keywords are change, adjustment, loss, destruction, conflict, indecision, and sadness. The number five signifies change, and this card shows a time of adjustment after a conflict of some kind.
50 Sometimes the fight stems from ideological or spiritual differences. That makes me think of what I said about the house being like lived in and and then all of a sudden, like it's abandoned and there's like some loss. Yeah, either like by the house's spirit or the like spirits in the house. Maybe they feel like a sense of loss. Oh, it's interesting that you say lost specifically. So the writer Wait Smith, Aquarian, and some other decks show a soldier on the battlefield at the end of a fight. The card asks what have you won or lost? I think loss was one of the key words, is why I said that.
32 Yeah, but it makes sense though, like I feel like loss has so many different connotations. And then I also think of the town, like, thankfully it was deemed a historic location, otherwise it could have just been a ghost town right once the mill shut down. I mean literally. The Five of Swords symbolizes the devastation of war and recommends using diplomacy to resolve problems. After a battle, you realize fighting isn't the best way to settle disputes. The cost of winning may not be worth the losses you've endured. I'm just going straight back to the gambling or the.
13 Little boy in the basement, Like, fighting is not the way to get people to go you toys. No, Honestly, that's such a good Yeah. No, that's such a good insight too. In a reading about money, this card represents disputes over money, perhaps an illegal matter. It also warns that even if you win, you may suffer. Try to resolve differences without drawing swords. Vacillation or lack of clarity can cause setbacks too. If the reading is about your job, the Upright five cautions you to avoid arguments, don't make enemies. This card may also indicate you're confused about how to proceed, or suggest you need to get more info before taking the next step. In a reading about love, this card says you won't get what you want by arguing hurtful words can't be taken back. Try to resolve problems amicably, honestly, and fairly. You may have to make some changes in order to improve a situation. Interesting.
21 I do feel like there's a little bit of a vibe of like stop with the hair pulling, or I. Think of the house and like what other towns people think of it just basically being used for ghost tours because I I didn't see it was used for anything else. Yeah, I do wonder. Like except for maybe filming some scary movies, and things in the basement. But I wonder what they think about that, since like a lot of the other buildings have been restored and are being used. Right, what do people think about that? Yeah, Like, are they okay with that because that is like the biggest, most historical home in town.
01 Yeah, maybe they'd like to see it used for another purpose. I don't know, restore the inside, have it be a B and B. You know. I do wonder sort of what people think about that. It didn't come across anything like really negative about it, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Okay. So while we're chatting, I just thought, what if I just pulled up the other card, you know, adjacent to it? Oooh okay, I like it to go with your gut. I was just curious, and most of the time I'm like, okay, I feel like either the card reading, we you know, kind of see some things. There's like some symbolism, you know, it is what it is. I don't necessarily always like get this gut feeling to draw multiple cards. But we drew the High Priestess.
59 And oh okay. Keywords are intuition, emotions, feminine power, imagination, spirituality, and the inner life. It's interesting because and I'll just really briefly, I won't read through the whole description, but this is the one where it's a woman that's seated, usually positioned between two pillars, one black and one white, which represents the dual nature of existence, good and evil, light and dark, truth and deception, positive and negative. There's an extra excerpt before the reverse interpretation. The shadow psychologist Carl g Jung thought the High Priestess symbolized the shadow, the unknown, secret, dark and mysterious part that lies within each of us.
52 Ooh, or lies within each home. Uh huh. And you're gonna absolutely shait your brain because the first sentence and the reverse interpretation is the High Priestess reversed says, your unrealized potential has yet to be discovered, which is exciting enough talking about this house, and we were just saying, I wonder if the locals would like to see it utilized, possibly in a different way. Yeah, your secret, authentic self is locked away in the basement. Jill, did you get Jills goes? Jill and I was just hot not that long ago, So yeah, it's just kind of crazy. I was like, I don't even really need to like get into the rest of the interpretation on this one. I feel like because shadow Basement, like I think those are the main bullets that we need here, Like I'm glad I looked at that.
59 One too, and the fact that it's a woman, Like yes, women ghosts were heavily featured in this episode. Right, and you know the imagery of like you know, you're in this long robe and you're between the white and the black pillars. Okay, So then the other thing was, you know, I said left or right, and you said, is there a middle? We drew the middle card, so then I was like, well, what's on the left of it? Because I was trying to get you to draw left right and you said middle. So anyways, the one on the left was the King of Wands. So this is really interesting because it's like our first card that we read with sandwich between these like male female. I want to say like authority figure in a way I don't know if that's really the right word, but keywords for the King of Wands leadership, self confidence, success, good fortune, and loyalty. And this is another one where it's like, you know, well it's a king. He's seated on a throne, he's got the handsome robe and all that. It's not a threatening figure. It's a dignified man who exudes confidence, authority, and power, like I don't know, maybe the company man.
17 Yeah, walker or ams or paranormal pete. I'm just saying so. It says in a reading the king may signify an actual person when he does, it's generally a mature man who's obtained a position of wealth and status, perhaps the head of a business or a leader in the community. Oh wow, Yeah, that totally fits. This is crazy. The king, upright, is a fortunate card, regardless of the situation. If he represents a real person, it's someone you can trust and rely on to do the right thing. He's a loyal friend, a fair minded employer, a wise advisor, a competent and honest leader.
03 That's cool. Yeah, Oh it's a it's a wolf or coyotes. Yeah, that's a wolf. Yeah. I feel like based on the stature of it, coyotes are kind of gangly. Yeah. What was the other one? They'll high priestesst one. You didn't show me. I know, because I don't want to touch it. Is it a bug? Oh, it's the spider, that's right. I love the. It's really pretty. But yeah, I'm like, no, thank you. It isn't a flower and there was a report of floral scent. So just saying, I'm sure there are a lot of spiders in that house too. Oh yeah, there have to be. That's a golden rod crab spider, which is so interesting because it's like this coastal place.
52 Yeah. Well, we'll have to go visit sometime. Maybe possibly you just outside, but meet inside. For sure. I want to do a tour. You're like, I'm going in. Paranormal pete, give me a private tour. I don't want to go with the whole group. Yeah, no, you want to have like the VIP experience. Yeah. I think we know a couple of other podcasters we could drag around up in there. I think we could form our own tour group just by the people we know. That would be fun. All right, should we do that day? Let's do her have a creepy day. We'll see you next Thursday.
35 Unless you're stuck in the basement of the walker Aims House with the ferns and the mosque and the touchy little boy. Yeah, because I definitely won't. That's that's not. Where I will be. I know you're like, I'm not going to basement. I'm not going to the attic. I'm on the main floor. This is where i'm at. I'll say, there's a good chance I'm and on the lawn. On the front porch so you can look at the bay. I love it That I can get behind
