Portals to Hell: Devil’s Gate, A Haunted Road & Creepy Real Estate

Are there really portals to Hell hidden in the United States? In this episode, we explore the creepy legends surrounding Devil’s Gate Dam in Pasadena, California, the haunted Riverdale Road in Colorado, and a Salem, Oregon, house that sparked rumors of a gateway to the underworld. From occult rituals and curses, to phantom cars and ghostly joggers, we’re diving into paranormal encounters, haunted places, and terrifying urban legends. Are these places truly supernatural, or is there a more earthly explanation?

02 So right under the Devil Rock is a rounded concrete tunnel with metal gates on each side. And the tunnel is about 100 feet long with graffiti covered walls. That is said to be the Devil's Gate. It's said to be the portal to hell. Oh my gosh. Okay. I know. And it looks creepy too. Like if you, there's pictures of it online. So it has like the two gates on either side, which I think makes it look even creepier. Oh, wow. That's an intense piece of rock. Holy shit. Hi, Taylin. Hi, Cassie. Hi, creepy people. Hello. This is PNW Haunts and Homicides, where we chat about true crime, the paranormal, and all things spooky in the Pacific Northwest. Or the PNW, if you're nasty.

55 Getting nastier by the day. Yes, she is. I can see it on her. And last time, I totally forgot to say we do a tarot reading at the end of every episode for a little deeper insight into our topic. So if last episode was your first and you were surprised by the tarot, we do it in every episode. So there you go. Can't say we didn't tell you. No. Well, I have some more fun, very, I think it's very creepy, spooky Halloween season episodes I've been putting together. Yes. Oh, my God. That is why Caitlyn is not here again, because I told you guys, she's just a chicken, and she didn't want to. Yeah, yeah. She actually fled the state to avoid this, specifically. Yes.

42 There was a Caitlyn-shaped hole in all of the walls on her way. I can't wait to see what she says when she comes back, if she listens to these while she's gone. Right, yeah. She'll be like, accurate, valid. Yeah. Okay, well, I don't have any fun. I didn't run into any fun Portland-y things like the flamethrower car. Did you run into any weird things in your state over there in Colorado? Are we saying where you're from? Oh, yeah, sure. She's not technically technical PNW, but sometimes we count Colorado and you know what? We're throwing it in there.

25 Very non-technically TNW. There are some areas, though, that are very TNW. No stories from this week, but next week I'm going to Estes Park, which is actually one of the areas I find to be very Pacific Northwest. It's a lot greener, lots of pine trees, and that's where the Stanley Hotel is as well. Oh, is that where the Estes Method comes from? It absolutely is, and... I'm going to try to get on one of the ghost tours this time around because we're staying in a little cabin over there. It's only 45 minutes from us, but I've never done the Stanley. So we're going to try to do that. And I'll report back if we end up making that happen.

11 Please do. I'm requesting an entire episode on that. I will be happy to do that. If we can just coordinate the schedule a little bit. Yeah. Yeah, no, I want it immediately like next week. No, that would be so cool. And if you could include how the Estes method came around, that would be fun, I think, for people to learn because I've I've heard of it, but I don't know if like the majority of people who aren't super into ghost hunting like no. That's fair. Yeah. And I think it's something that pretty much anyone could be interested in. I have some friends that are not into ghost hunting, but I showed them a few episodes of a different show talking about the SS method and they were fascinated just because it's like, I don't know, you watch videos of it happening and it's kind of hard to argue with. I know.

09 I think so, too. I love it. It's like my favorite part of ghost investigations. And I'm like dying to get to do it one day. Oh, my God. Someday. I'd be so scared. I'm such a chicken when it comes to like actually doing the thing. But I would totally help facilitate it. Calm down. You can blindfold me. I just know something is going to come through and not leave me if I end up if I were to do it myself. Hopefully I'm too susceptible to things. Yeah. It would be my luck where like nothing could enter my crab shell. Oh, or it's already there. Something leaves while you're doing this. Maybe.

50 Can you imagine? That might be good for me. I don't know. We should try this. Yeah, totally. All right. Well, we're speaking of things entering you and leaving you and along those lines. It kind of goes with my episode today. Tell me more. Not like that, you guys. Come on. So people say there is a portal to hell in Pasadena, California. I love Pasadena. I'm really curious to know where this portal is. I've never heard of it before. I used to live down there, too. Oh, really? Yeah. Okay. Well, this is fun. That's kind of funny. You'll see later.

32 You'll see later. Okay. Okay. So Pasadena is right outside LA for those of you who didn't know, which I really didn't know until I like researched this. There is a dam named Devil's Gate. Devil's Gate Dam was built in 1920 on a rock formation resembling Satan. The one and only? I have heard of the dam. Okay. I'm wondering why, do you know, you ever hear a word out of like deviled eggs? Deviled eggs? I don't think about the devil when I think about deviled eggs. You don't? I don't think I ever thought about the devil when thinking about devil dams.

12 That is interesting because I definitely like picture like deviled eggs with like little horns on a tail, you know? Yeah, which makes sense. I'm really wondering about myself right now. Why? To me, it's like one word. It's not deviled eggs. It's deviled eggs. Yeah. It's not deviled eggs. It's devil damn like i don't know they're just like as a my brain does something i guess when they're paired. I could see that my brain does shit like that all the time so i could totally see that or maybe the devil is just in you already and it doesn't want you to see It is said that the first people here, the Tongva, warned of this place, I guess because of the devil rock. I don't know why, if there be any other reason, if they felt like it was some sort of, what am I trying to say, like a curse place or something like that. It didn't really specify, but... So right under the Devil Rock is a rounded concrete tunnel with metal gates on each side.

14 And the tunnel is about 100 feet long with graffiti covered walls. That is said to be the Devil's Gate. It's said to be the portal to hell. Oh, my gosh. Okay. I know. And it looks creepy, too. Like if you there's pictures of it online. So it has like the two gates on either side, which I think makes it look even creepier. Oh, wow. That's an intense piece of rock. Holy shit. Do you see the devil rock? Yeah. You know what? So when I grew up in Southern California, my extended family down there was either very Catholic or very Mormon. And I'm assuming maybe this is why this never entered my orbit as a place that we would visit or talk about. There might have been a little superstition there or... belief not even superstition like belief there I famously brought a tarot deck into my aunt's house once when I was like 10 years old and it it did not go well it those are of satan those are witchcraft those are evil I mean that's why I brought them I didn't really care for her I should stop talking now.

26 Are we leaving this in? No, it's up to you. I'll leave that up to you. I think it's great. That's why this might not have been part of my orbit, even though I was into the spooky things. This is intense. This place looks like some shit is happening. Yeah, it does. And it has a lot of lore as well. So we'll talk about some of that. This is a hiking area that a lot of people go to. So you can hike around it and you can get to the tunnel itself. It's not super easy to get to. It's kind of off trail. And some people have posted like directions to it online if you're interested in going. I'm not going to go through the directions of how to get there. That's on you guys to research. There is a pretty ominous comment on Yelp and they say, I don't want to be a frequent hiker here because people that are have stumbled across Satanists doing rituals and sacrifices.

22 I could see that. I could see that totally. Or like teenagers, you know. Definitely. But there is also another reason for it, other than kind of the abandoned factor of it and, you know, the Devil Rock and the name of the place. Okay. The area has attracted occultists, specifically JPL co-founder Jack Parsons. which JPL is NASA's largest space robotics facility. If you guys didn't know. Shut up. I definitely didn't. Their founder? Yeah, their co-founder, Jack Parsons. Is it Nicole Parsons? Yes. Okay, okay. No, it gets crazier. It gets crazier.

03 And he teamed up with Scientologist founder L. Ron Hubbard. Stop. I'm telling you, I can't even get through the sentence because it's so crazy. It is said that here they performed ceremonies to summon the goddess Babylon... To help them conceive the Antichrist. Stop. Right? I'm like, I didn't know that was a thing in Scientology. Not that I know much about it. I didn't know that was a thing in NASA. Right? That too. I'm like, wait. So like this huge person like in our history is summoning... The Antichrist?

45 Did you rabbit hole these people at all? And if so, do you happen to know if the occultist part came before or after the NASA part? It came after. I know that. OK, so he like helped found NASA and then was like, actually. So I didn't deep dive on it, but I know like these things were happening after him being the co-founder. But I did not deep dive on either of these things. So I read like through a few articles that said the same thing, but I was like, I cannot. I can't. That's so shocking. Because that's a lot. Yeah. So if you want a deep dive on this. Yeah, I'm so curious. I'm always surprised when someone who you would think, surely they're so practical minded. Surely they're atheists, not even agnostic. But then again, like, I don't know.

38 I guess if you're like exploring space or help helping, you know, make that possible. That would kind of open your mind a bit to some magic and some wonder, maybe. I think so. I think it's like a great thing. Like, I don't think all occultists are necessarily bad or anything. I know there is like a bad side of it and a bad path you can go down. And it sounds like they didn't maybe go down the best path. But yeah, I think it's great to be open. But I don't know about summoning the Antichrist. And then like teaming up with L. Ron Hubbard is where kind of my where I'm like, there's some moral questioning there, maybe.

19 Interesting. Yeah. And everything, every little nugget I learn about Scientology, I just I can't piece it together. And I want to look into it and I want to know more. But like, it just it's crazy shit that doesn't make any sense to me. Yeah. And also, I'm scared. Totally. Totally. Of getting caught in it. Like, what if I start to believe it, you know? Oh, I would. Are you kidding me? It's amazing I haven't been snatched by a cult before. Like, I'm, again, very susceptible. I hope no cults are listening at this moment. Oh, please, no. I'm okay. I'm comfy where I'm at. We do have Caitlin, though, so she can maybe talk us out of the cult. She can be our... So true.

05 That's very comforting. She's like a pre-deprogrammer. Yeah, yeah, I think so. Or wait, is she our cult leader? Oh, God. Oh, fuck. What have we done? Fuck, I did just get her name tattooed in my arm. You did too? We're just improv-ing now. Yes, and. You know who else said yes, and? Aleister Crowley. He claimed to have opened one of the seven portals to hell here as well. So some famous occultist action happening at the Devil's Gate. Okay, sorry, I'm stunned. The woman was stunned.

47 Also, I didn't deep dive on that either. So who knows if it's true. I might just be bullshitting all of you guys today. This whole episode is improv. So this one's really sad. There is even rumors of missing children in the area being linked to the Devil's Gate. And I don't like. That at all. I like I know there's going to be missing children in the area. Obviously, there's missing children all over the place. But I really hope that they're not like linked to this. It just makes me feel icky about it. Yeah. It has long been said that manic laughter can be heard coming out of the tunnel. Oh, my God. Can people get in there or is it like permanent? Okay. Okay.

31 Yeah, you can get in there. So I was kind of thinking like, is it just people in there partying? Or unwell. Yeah, that too. Yeah. Deeply unwell. Yeah. Maybe they're possessed. Maybe. Or maybe it's the devil himself. Herself. No, I'm just kidding. No, you're right. You're right though. Yeah. Thanks for thanks for checking me. So this is kind of I thought was important. Some articles say that it's abandoned the dam, which it looks abandoned from all the pictures and stuff and all like the graffiti everywhere. But it's actually not. It is still an active flood control structure managed by the L.A. County Public Works.

14 Oh, wow. Just so you guys know. And there are signs like no trespassing signs on, I think, certain ways you can get to the gates. So just be aware of that. But it's like a maintained state owned thing. Yeah. Okay. But it says it's for flood control. So there's going to be some water somewhere at some point. You know, lots of that in California. Right. If they if there's like super duper heavy torrential downpours in Pasadena one day, you know, maybe be careful, which is maybe why it does seem abandoned to probably because they don't have use for. It a ton. Yeah, maybe. I don't know. I'm looking at it and it is a big dam. I've never seen the, this has never come up for me. So, and I didn't live in Southern California past my like early teen years. So some stuff is so big, but I'm looking at pictures of the water part of it.

09 It's pretty massive. I'd only ever seen the like concrete, like dam. Part of it, but It looks like a normal dam to me, and I don't know if it's just because of like what I read about it, but it does have like a weird ominous look to it. I don't know if you're feeling that too, but I think it overall generally looks like a normal dam, but there's something about it that creeps me out. Well, LA in general is creepy. I don't know if you've ever seen like Inland Empire or Mulholland Drive from David Lynch. No. They really, really capture. There's this feeling in LA, everything is so spread out. Everything is so sunny.

50 But there's like a haze. There's like a vibe there where it's like just eerie. Is the haze the pollution? Probably, yeah. But I feel like it matches the vibe sometimes. Like, I don't know. I remember getting locked outside of a friend's parents' house. work building once in los angeles like downtown los angeles and it's just odd it's almost like a liminal space in itself the feeling there sometimes. Oh that's like what i was feeling and picturing as you were describing it. Yeah so when you say like when you're talking about that eerie feeling i like a hundred percent agree and to me it feels no different than a lot of la can feel at least.

35 Wow, I love that you know the area. This is great because like I would have no idea. And I know it's not technically PNW either, whatever. Just barely technically. West Coast. All right. Okay, so this is why I thought it was funny earlier that we were talking about places you know, because you might know this place as well. I'm not 100% sure, but we'll see. So we're going to talk about Riverdale Road. And it is an 11 mile road between Thornton and Brighton in Colorado. I don't know the name of this road, but I definitely driven between those two places. I'm also notoriously bad at roads and maps. Someone asked me recently what way I go to get to Boulder from where I live.

30 And I take it. regularly and I couldn't remember the name of the highway. I'm the same. Really? Okay, good. Yes. That makes me feel better. I am so bad. Yeah, with directions and roads and no, I'm not good at it either. So where is Thornton? Is it Thornton? Thornton? That's how everyone I know. Thornton? That's it. Yeah, Thornton. Has an N in there. Has a tricky little N in there. I know. I never hear people pronounce it, but maybe it is pronounced and I just don't notice it or maybe everyone said that wrong. No I don't think so because you guys are from that area so I'm gonna take it from you all right go for it then but I definitely forgot to look up like where this these places were.

13 Brighton is um northeast of Denver it's 30 minutes from Denver Thornton is a little bit closer to Denver and then Brighton is further up north. Okay We're going to go and talk about a bunch of things on this road and like why it might be haunted, what's going on here. But the first one I want to bring up because every single article brings it up and I don't love this theory, but I kind of want to know like your thoughts on it as well. So they say an ancient Native American burial ground. either they built the road on it, I think is what it is. And so it has, you know, it's cursed everyone who's been on the road.

58 Yeah. I don't love that theory because it's like, I mean, I didn't come up with this, but I've heard like several people talk about it. And it's like saying that, you know, the indigenous people were cursed everyone and that's like the the big theory on why a bunch of things are haunted I think it like started from the movie poltergeist or whatever yeah. That's kind of a bummer to hear that like locals maybe are talking like that. Because yeah I think it's still a big thing now with like haunted stories. It's a bummer because I'm like well yeah like it's all native land and like many places have that acknowledgement on their websites or in their place of business and stuff so like Well, yeah, like it was definitely built over Native American land, but that whole like ancient cemetery or burial ground thing. Right.

49 And the curse, I think the curse is like the biggest thing. It's like they were evil and they cursed us. And, you know, I'm like, I'm pretty sure we brought the curse on to them, you know. And then we cursed ourselves by doing so. Right, right. Yeah. So like, actually, we did it. No. But I do think that any burial ground, any cemetery, if you're going to like build something on top of it and there's no markers for who was buried under there, that might, you know, it might stir up some stuff, bring some, you know, not so great vibes. They're kind of being disrespected. So I can see that part of it, but not necessarily that they, you know, indigenous people left a curse on the land.

37 Definitely not. But they would be within their rights to do so if that is what was happening. But I don't believe. That's what's happening. So moving past that, there is apparently a high number of accidents that happen on the road. And one of the hauntings is actually the driver of a Camaro who was killed in an accident on the road in the 70s. And people report seeing a Camaro come out of nowhere with one headlight out, which is like, ooh, very spooky. Yeah. And it will follow them and pull up beside them as if wanting to race. Is that how he died? Was it a race?

17 I don't know for sure. It just said it was an accident. Ooh. So maybe, or he could have been speeding. He was in a Camaro. Or he could have been just following the rules and like a deer jumped out in front of him or something. We don't know his life. That's so true. Sorry, guy. But it sounded like very James Dean to me. I totally can picture that in like a 70s movie, like the Camaro, like a muscle shirt. That's a great imagery with the one headlight out. I love that. Okay, there is a comment on cohauntedhouses.com, which is Short for Colorado haunted houses, if you didn't know.

58 Cassie's a Colorado expert over here. Watch out. Thank you. Thank you. I try. The comment says, my friend and I went down the actual Riverdale Road, and then the branch off is also named Riverdale Road. So that's confusing. You might get lost if there's a branch off that's also Riverdale Road. The branch off was by far more scary and uneasy than the actual haunted Riverdale Road. I saw headlights chasing us. And mind you, it was right on our ass. So she said headlights. So is this the Camaro or is it not? Because it didn't have just one headlight.

40 Sorry, I'm like thinking I'm looking at that. The branch off is Riverdale Road. I was like, that's not correct. It branches off into something else. But it totally is. Oh, so you found it. Yeah, that's so confusing. That's good to know, though, that it gives... Credibility. Yeah, credibility to this comment. And I do not think I've ever been on this road. Like I said last episode, not intentionally. Maybe. Who knows? Maybe it was a good day for the Camaro and both headlights were on, or... maybe it was a different car but that's so scary it.

21 Is scary and it gets kind of does it get scarier wait i don't know if it does am i about to lie oh it does get scarier okay so he was right up on their ass and they go on to say we were recording and none of our videos had picked up any headlights behind us stop so that's freaking spooky So they say no one had followed us onto that road either. So they didn't have like someone who had turned with them onto the road. They just saw headlights out of nowhere. I definitely believe there's something out there. We do plan on going back to see if we do see anything else because it feels like there's more haunting on the branch off. So I need a follow-up story. People driving down the road might spot a ghostly jogger. And if you stop, he will tap on the window. I don't know if you could hear that or not.

17 Yeah, that was good. That was good. Or your window might fog up and a handprint will appear out of nowhere. And I just think of Titanic. Oh, that's so sexy. I was going to say he asks you to check to look at his fitness tracker. He's like, look at my rings. Colorado jogger. oh my god so tap tap tap and then just a fucking handprint. Yeah so i don't know why he's steaming up the back the back seat of the car but or it doesn't say it doesn't say the back seat i think i just made that up in my mind it could be any window on the car but still why is he fogging up the car oh because he's jogging so he's moist he's creating humidity.

01 There's so much happening right now. There's just the imagery in my brain. I love that you assumed it was backseat because of a hand on the window. Yeah. And then, yeah, I guess... If you're running, your body heat is up or your like lack of body is like, is that like a, what is that? How does that work? I don't know. Is he just like, does the ghost remember being that hot? And so that is what is projected. Like that's the temp of the energy or what? Maybe the ghost sweat. It's like, do they sweat ectoplasm? And then how do you replenish? Like, what are you? How does the ghost stay hydrated? Now I'm concerned.

42 Instead of electrolyte drink, it's an ectoplasm drink. That's kind of cute. I like that. Sometimes the street signs on Riverdale Road will have small bloody handprints on them. And this is thought to be a young boy who was hit and killed on the road on his way to school. Oof. I know. And I'm like, if there was ever an urban legend I didn't want to be true, I think it's this one. Yeah, that's really sad. I think they said they're on, like, the caution signs on the road. So is he trying to, like, tell people, like, caution, watch out for little kids walking the road going to school? Oh, my God. Cassie. I'm sorry. That's so sad. Is it verifiable that someone, like, a little kid passed there? No.

30 Now, like a lot of these things, I can't I can't verify. They're pretty urban legend. So that's what makes me feel OK, like talking about it because I don't think it's true. I don't know. It could be. Who knows? And of course, people also see a lady in white walking down the side of the road. As you do. There's always got to be a lady in white. There's not specific stories related to her, but I assume she kind of either disappears on the side of the road or like maybe some other ladies in white. She'll get in your car and ask, you know, to take her someplace and then disappears. Very typical.

12 What kind of road in the middle of nowhere or like not even in the middle of nowhere? What kind of road at night haunting would you want to experience? Road at night haunting. Like those, all the classic ones, or we can even use these ones, the like hand on the window, someone asking for a ride and getting in your car and then vanishing, the headlights. What kind of thing would you want to walk away with? Oh, none of them. I don't know. This is like one of those questions that, what is it? Like, which is worse? And none of the answers are good. Would you rather? Yeah. I think I'd probably want to experience the foggy windows and the handprint. I feel like that's the least... Like, I could probably handle that.

58 Yeah. That sounds scary to me. I'm also... Oh, the... Because the car outside was very loud. It's a Camaro. I'm, like, very paranoid driving anyway. So, like, things jumping out at me or, like, disappearing or. Yeah, that would the car like pulling up to my side or whatever, wanting to race. That would probably just scare the shit out of me. I don't like that kind of thing. No. And then Colorado just has the most aggressive drivers anyway. So, I would assume real person who like wants to do some damage. Yeah. And I didn't list this one, but of our haunting things I've heard, the one that would traumatize me the least and I would like to tell the story of is if the radio started doing some weird shit. Like if a voice suddenly came through on a stretch of the road or like Turn to a station. Yeah.

00 See, that would be cool. So speaking of the lady in white, this was a really funny comment also on the cohauntedhouses.com. It says, so I was standing there in the forest after my wedding and a bunch of people stopped in their cars and just looked at me like, go do something else. I'm not an attraction in a museum. Anyways, zero out of 10. Don't hold your wedding at Riverdale Road. You will get people looking at you. This might be the only circumstance in which I'd say, what were you wearing? You were kind of asking for it. Right? It's horrible. Definitely everyone thought she was the woman in white. I think that's so funny. Like, I'm not an attraction. Like, I just got married. But also, why are you standing on the side of the road?

47 Yeah. In white. Like, come on. Yeah. What do you think is going to happen? I. I'm gonna victim blame here a little bit I think she knew what she was doing. That's really funny I. Love how she gave it zero out of ten yeah and this is really spooky so it said that during a full moon you can see witches hanging in the trees. Oh my gosh what are how do they know they're witches then are they what are they wearing. I think there's a rumor around there that there was like a witch hanging tree in the area. So I don't know if that just got spread to like maybe all of the trees along the road. You can see it or.

30 Yeah, because I'm like, a lot of people, you wouldn't know they're witches just by looking at them. So how are we deciding that they're witches? Do they have hats? Right. Or.... I think it just came from like that witch hanging tree. Yeah, that makes sense. So it is rumored that a community of occultists had lived in the area. Is there a theme with my two stories, you guys? Remains of rituals and pentagrams carved in the trees have been found along the road. And some messages were written on caution signs on Riverdale Road. One that says, Hitchhikers may be demons. And the other says, this road is cursed.

14 That's scary. There's an old mansion on the road that allegedly a man burned down with his family inside. And some people think that he did this because he was possessed. Oh, okay. Which I could see... thinking like someone who could do that like maybe maybe there's something more like evil and sinister going on other than the fact that like a human actually did this to his family. Yeah and i mean there are still a lot of people that believe even if it even if they're attributing it to that person's mental state there's still like a belief that that's influenced by demons yeah Yeah, you either go all demon or it's like, oof, they're just like so not doing well. Or there's that like hybrid kind of belief system where it's like they're so not doing well because of the demons. Either way, hard to cope with someone doing that to their family.

14 I know. It reminds me of like, is it like the Amityville? That's kind of what I was thinking, too. The dad killed the family? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. People say they've seen the mansion's iron gates still standing, calling them the gates of hell. It's all connected. Oh, my God. It's all connected. No one actually knows where the gates are, though. And some people say that they only appear at certain times, maybe to certain people, maybe when they want to be seen. Mwahaha. Is there any way that this could be like a trick of the light? If they're not there all the time, is there anything casting shadows that looks like gates? Maybe.

59 That's not what the show is. I'm sorry. No, they're apparitions or they're actually, it's a portal. I'm sorry. And it only reveals itself when the time is right or wrong for the. No, you know, I like to think of like other alternatives. There could be, there could be like trees around. It's abandoned, right? So it could be there's like tall grass. I don't... I don't know. I love thinking about the origin of story. So I'm just like. Me too. If we play full skeptic, how did that story start? What was the first thing that the person saw that made this story, you know, turn into what it is today? It is hard, though, because we want to believe people. We want to... Yeah. I want to believe spooky stories. So we'll just have to go there and search for the gates to hell ourselves.

45 Oh, yeah. Yeah. I need a buddy if that's the mission. I was like, I volunteered to do a couple things. That's not what I'm doing on my own. No, no, no, never go alone. Never go on a search for the gates of hell alone. And we've always said that. Okay, do you have one more fun thing for you? Since I technically didn't really cover things that were in the Pacific Northwest this time. So I have a 1920s four-bedroom house in Salem, Oregon, that was listed as a great opportunity in 2020. Photographs of the property were shared on social media. One photo shows an inverted pentagram painted on the basement wall. Another shows a hole in the wall with open me and find him written above it.

35 One user calling it a portal to hell. Oh my gosh. The greatest opportunity. No, thank you. It's like what kind of opportunity? Like the opportunity to meet Satan? Yeah. Is that what we're talking about? Yeah. Can you be more specific, please? Was this Airbnb? No, it was a house for sale. Oh, for sale. Okay. Just looks like a normal house from the outside. I really like that door and the... Bit of roof above it. That trim is really cute. I know. It seems like a bright and happy, colorful...

15 It's like yellow and orange. Yeah. Oh, dear. I told you. Is what is written on one of the doors. Is it? Oh, my God. That whole. This is maybe someone having... just a good laugh or seeing the lucrative potential of calling anything haunted or satanic. Maybe I could see that too, but the estate agent does not acknowledge the creepy wall markings in the listings description and simply says the inside quote needs full rehab.

55 but admitted it was cash only and sold as it is. Yeah, I feel like the great opportunity, the investment would be like to buy a cheap house and fix it up and sell it for more. Yeah, maybe that's what they meant. But still, like, it's pretty funny. Like, I was thinking, did they want like a cultist to come and buy it? Like, hey, this could be your new like home base. Yeah, totally. Totally. But funny that people were calling it the portal to hell based on like a little hole and open me and find him. Oh my gosh. Have you ever been to any portals in hell? Not any that I know of. But I did have a dream.

38 Not on purpose. Not intentionally. I've never intentionally or knowingly wandered into an actual portal to hell. But I did have a dream when I was very young. And it stuck with me in a very intense way about my grandparents' neighbor's house being a portal to hell. What? The dream was so severe. Like, it was so... It really, like, affected me. Like, I don't want... I'd have to, like, recall every single detail. But, like, the main part of it was, like, Her house had these tracks running through it, like a train car or a roller coaster, like tracks running throughout it. And I remember getting on the ride. And you know in a dream how you can just sometimes feel that something is what it is. You don't see it. It's not told you. So, like, I immediately felt that it was hell. And, like, the creepiest part of the whole dream, other than the fact that, like, I remember... talking briefly to the devil he was like playing these many characters on the ride whoa was that there was this very lovely spirited classical music playing with all of it like it was like upbeat classical whoa like i think i think uh what's that movie with tony cola and the guy the the head comes off

10 by the street sign i'm blanking on the name right now it's From a couple years ago, it's like everyone's scariest movie, if they're not a big horror person. Hereditary? Hereditary, which was very scary. But at the end, when he finally is crowned and accepts his role as like the demon or whatever, there's this like really pretty classical music that plays. And it was like that. Oh, that's so spooky. So spooky. And it's never left me. And I kind of like after that dream, it kind of changed how I perceived the world around me for a little bit just because it felt so real. And maybe there was some dream portal, some astral plane that briefly transported me.

00 Yeah. Oh, my gosh. That is that's going to affect me for a minute. Sorry. No, I've had a dream like that for sure. That just like affected you. Yeah. And it was like I was trapped in the land of the dead. Yeah. For like years and years. And I was like a little kid. Oh my God. I think I was like six or seven when I had this dream. But I was like trapped for years. And could you feel that it was years? Yeah. And then I woke up and I was like, I don't know like what the world is anymore. What do you do with that? I know, especially so young. But yeah, so I totally like understand the vibe that you just kind of like know what it is and you weren't told to. Yeah. Well, anyway, does anyone else have any traumatic dreamage to share with us?

56 Have you ever been to hell? Let us know. So we're going to do some tarot and we have a Thoth deck. Oh, yay. Which was like Alistair Crowley's deck so I thought we could use that today that sounds fun love it it is different than normal tarot so I have the interpretation book sometimes what comes out is a little um crazy and doesn't make like a ton of sense so we'll see what like what we get I'm excited it's very esoteric you know some of your vibes Your Gates portal to hell vibe.

39 Portal to hell, the liminalness of Los Angeles. Oh, so spooky. Okay, so I am at a desk here. I can kind of, I can spread these out. So do you want me to just like run a finger along these and you kind of tell me when to stop? Or are you feeling like a certain keyboard spot? Oh, actually, I'm going to try to visualize. Okay, tell me when you're starting and then I'll tell you when to stop. Okay, I'm starting running a finger along the spread out cards. That one kind of like poked out too when I ran my finger across it. Okay.

19 Oh, okay. So we got the knight of discs. A knight dressed in black on a horse. My first instinct, just so maybe a disclaimer. This was my second instinct card. The first one was like right after you said I'm starting. Like the second card or like, yeah. The second card is interesting. It's Dominion. We should do both. I'm down. Oh, it does say wands on it. There's like, I don't know if you can see. There's like a tiny little word at the bottom that says dominion and like shadowy behind it says wands. That's horrible design. Sorry, but.

00 Okay, so it's two of wands is what the dominion card is. It says, ooh, the flames of the will. flames like a portal to hell or the gates to hell would have flames for sure. Am i connected or am i connected. You knew instinct goal assertiveness conquest and rulership light so the light part of this card is impulse courage to take action and the shadow quality is destructiveness oh that's kind of like what we were saying like of the occultists. I also relate to that card on a personal level.

40 Totally. This card presents to us the ambiguity concealed in every symbol. We see two crossed, I don't know these words, they're some sort of weapons, two crossed weapons, which as thunderbolts signify the divine power of the destructiveness of good as well as evil. That kind of reminds me of like a gateway because it says like two crossed things. I don't know. Oh, so this is interesting. They wear demon masks on their ends, expressing fear as well as magically overcoming it. Oh, they do have like little demon masks on the little daggers. That's so cool.

26 I really like that card. You know what I noticed too? I do too. Like the coloring on it. So it reminds me of water and like fire on top of water. Like maybe a dam. Yeah. Oh my God. Just saying. Yeah. And the fact that there's like demons on it too. And we've been talking about demons and possession. Well, dominion makes me think of devils too. I don't know if it's inherently related, but. Right, I was wondering if it's going to say what that word means because I don't exactly know. On another level, the daggers are phallic symbols. Of course they are. And show the procreative as well as the destructive power of sexuality. Okay, it's more of the same stuff. Something about snakes. They can either keel or heel. Okay, it basically is a giant paragraph that says the same thing 12 different times.

22 Okay, fair. Like me. Yeah, yeah, kind of. Energetically, the two is equivalent to the first formation of the fire from the still unformulated source of ideas. What does that even mean? This book is nonsense. Does it mean like the concept of fire? I guess so. It's esoteric, so it's whatever you want it to mean. You're so funny. This book is nonsense. Zero out of 10 stars. I hate it. I'm not into it. Let's never do this again. The card then describes the spontaneous energy of fire or the unbridled aimless fire spirit, which finds it more important to want than to act. So like maybe want to raise the Antichrist, but like don't actually do it.

16 That's what I took it as as well. It sees its task in the expression of its will and not so much in the attainment of the goal. At the same time, it is driven by an undirected power taking new paths upon which there are often interesting possibilities for development without considering the possible shambles. Well, I didn't say it earlier, but I was thinking about even if none of this started as true supernatural like activity or whatever. I was thinking about the power of story, like Dana and Greg. Thank you. Greg and Dana Newkirk. Yes.

56 Yeah. On their tour last year where they were trying to haunt an object. Yes. Speaking to the power of want versus action or like, I think there's just something there for me where I'm like, maybe it's very possible to manifest hell. Maybe it is only there because we are telling the stories of it kind of thing. Right. I do agree with that. Yeah. I also got to help haunt those dolls. I'm so jealous. Okay. And it has like a little Aries symbol on it too. Ooh. Okay. So it says Mars and Aries, the Roman, the Romans called the battering ram. with which they broke down the gates of besieged fortresses, Ares, and astrological name of the ram.

44 But it says something about breaking down the gates. That's interesting. That's crazy. On an inner level, this card encourages us to deal with the theme of violence. Do we want to read the other card? Yeah. Okay, so the Knight of Disks, the father of the harvest and the fructifying power? Yeah, see, they don't make it easy. What is fructifying? And you are saying things great, by the way. I'm looking it up. Fructifying is the present participle form of the verb fructify. You didn't need us. Okay. Beth didn't need to start with that. Duh. Which means to bear fruit. It'd be funny if it just stopped there. Right.

24 Yeah. To bear fruit, make productive or yield a profitable and useful result. So like the word I would know would be fruitful. Right. But it does say it's like the father of the harvest too. So that makes sense. So it is the reason that something would be fruitful. You fructify and I guess that makes it fruitful. Be kind of the way to think about that. Okay. Okay. Oh, I see. Okay. We're getting somewhere. We're learning. Maybe. Would this like be the devil because he fructifies hell with his souls? Maybe. Yeah. Instinct, surviving for possession, security, intangible things. Goal, duration, stability, and internal values. Light, endurance, reason, strength, and patience. Strict, authoritarian, weighty, and tenacious. This sounds like the devil to me. It does.

13 Whoa. Wow. So the devil has some insecurities. Yeah. Yeah, he totally envies God. And you're right, that is a he. Like, that's what I took from that. That is a he in this case. The devil is male. That's true. If he's feeling like that, yeah. Ooh, quality. Interesting.

02 the father of the harvest and the procreative power represents the fiery, fructifying spirit of Mother Earth. Are you trying to take her credit? That's what it sounds like. And I never thought about the devil as bad. Like when you break it down and why the devil is the devil, it's just the human parts of human. But this doesn't sound great. I know. But it does say he cares for the animals and plants, which is why... he carries a flail instead of a sword. Oh, he does have like a whippy thing instead of a sword. So he whips everything into shape. Or maybe it's more with like the dogmatic stuff. Maybe this is more about like the L. Ron Hubbard, the NASA guy and Alistair Crowley than it is about the devil directly.

52 Yeah, maybe I could see that. The massive armor of the knight also expresses the limitation caused by his all-too-earthly instincts, separating him from the spiritual sources of light. This explains his often short-sighted behavior when, for the sake of material gain, he plunders Mother Earth through the clearing of forests, over-fertilizing of fields, or catching fish in great quantities. But that's like, I think, showing like the both sides of it. Like I think it's trying to show, like it kind of talked about in the upper portion of this the light and the shadow good point so it's kind of like each card has like two different vibes kind of like when we do tarot when we do like reverse and yeah not reverse it is interesting though it keeps saying like fiery and that the card is very like orange and red too which is also you know what kind of looks fiery and fall yeah and fall that book I forgot like how bad it is.

00 It's a lot. It's definitely, I guess, yeah, esoteric, if not just self-indulgent. Yeah. But I think I really do like the cards we got, though. Like, just the imagery on them, both kind of fiery. I am glad that I asked you to do the second card, after all. The Dominion one. Yeah. I like that one, too. It's a good one. All right. Well, if you guys have anything to say about the interpretations there, if you can. If you're a little more esoteric than me, which I think Taylin is a little bit. She kind of helped explain some of that for me because that was not. But like. Not good. That's not even. Those are just my interpretations.

45 I couldn't even make heads or tails of it. So at least you did something with it. I think that if I was the one reading it to you, you would probably have the luxury of. Maybe could process it a little better. Yeah, maybe. Maybe listening back, I'll have some more thoughts. Yeah. I'll just keep them to myself. And you did read those well. Those are clunky sentences to get through. Oh, God. And I still have a cold. So like I'm trying to not snort through the sentence as well. Okay. Well, I think we should probably say goodbye for this week. And have a creepy ass day. We'll see you next Thursday.

29 Unless you stumble through a portal to hell and you fall down there and have a hoedown with the devil. Or find a suspicious looking house that is a great opportunity. And you simply have to invest. And also a hole. And also a hole. Find a hole, have a hoedown. It's a great opportunity.
